This report summarizes the remarkable safety
record of acupuncture for the last 25 years. Articles from the English
language literature (and a few from abroad) regarding problems are
summarized, including the type of incident, training of the practitioner
(if stated) and outcome of the patient. A survey showing the number
of disciplinary actions by state acupuncture regulatory bodies is
included. An excellent tool to demonstrate the safety record of
qualified practitioners, and problems when practitioners are not
qualified, for legislators, third party payers and others.
